In 1970, Brazil's Stevia Research Institute at the International Diabetes Convention agreed with Dr. Carlos A. Oviedo's thesis, " Ka´a He´ê Effects" (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni) regarding glycemia. "Studies regarding 25 clinical reasons of normal hydro carbonates".
In 1970, Dr. Carlos A. Oviedo of U.N.A.'s faculty exposed the side effects of Ka´a He´ê and glycerin; this in accordance with information that was given to the 209th Diabetes Convention in Buenos Aires by Dr. Ovidio Miguel.
In Japan, experiments were done regarding aspartame, aspartame's use in the family environment and aspartame' s use in the food and in the pharmaceutical industries.
In 1976, at the 28th Annual Meeting for Progress in the Scientific Field, held in Brasilia, Dr. Gila de Amaral de Von Schmelling presented the work titled "Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni and its hypoglycemic effects in aloxannized rabbits".
