Marketing is not just harmful to us. It is also directly linked to our lifestyle. In the countryside, it is easier to eat fresh and natural foods, and children usually walk to school.
In larger cities (where most jobs are), people generally don't have time to prepare a healthy breakfast. People frequently have to commute two hours to work, and children have to bring a bag lunch, or, even worse, buy it at school. Stress, lack of self-esteem and bad eating habits start to show when children start to gain weight. Poor eating habits can lead to lack of personal care as well as the following:
Anguish: the child will become depressed and obese. He or she will feel guilty and ashamed (and therefore have low self-esteem) as a result of not being able to control his or her impulses to overeat.
Obsession: The child will show obsessive-compulsive like behavior to attempt to control his or her eating which include the following:
Diets. Who doesn't know about the "moon diet" or the "7-day diet" ? Instead of helping, these diets make one malnourished and will take longer to recover the excess weight they lost as well as bouncing back and forth between one weight and another.
Medical Treatments???? Obesity is a problem around the world, and it also has been a very lucrative business for many. It is one of the easiest ways to sell fraudulent "cures" for overweight people. These "treatments" range from amphetamines, thyroidal hormones and drugs that increase one's metabolic rate. These do indeed allow people to lose weight, but they do not have anything to do with the real problem and do not attack the roots of obesity itself. These different types of "cures" can actually provoke severe illnesses and, in 99% of all cases, the "patient" will gain up to 50% of the weight that he or she lost after the so-called "treatment" is completed.
